This month we honor Gerry Prinster, of Coldwell Banker Commercial CRA, our 2007 CIE Chairman.   Gerry has been involved in real estate since 1966 when he formed Able Realty; a general brokerage company with his long-time friend John Slattery.  As a REALTOR, Gerry has held many offices at both the Local and State levels.  In 1976 & 1977 he served as the President of the St. Charles County Board of REALTORS.

Gerry became involved with CIE in 2003 by serving on the Technology Committee. Later that same year, he was appointed to the Board of Directors to fill an open position. He was elected to the CIE Board in 2005 and served as Chairman in 2007 (Quite an honor for me as I was and am now “technology challenged”.). Gerry currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer/Director of the Commercial Division of the St. Louis Association of REALTORS®

During my year as Chairman, we negotiated and approved a new service agreement between SLAR and CIE.  The agreement outlined the Haves/Needs Broadcast Email system and the Commercial Division web site management that CIE would provide to the Commercial Division members.
In 2006, our software vendor had notified us that the software we were currently using was going to be phased out and that we would need to change over to the CDX platform. It took us twelve (12) months and a lot of meetings to negotiate a contract with Xceligent. A debt of gratitude is owed to those who gave tirelessly of their time, experience, foresight and knowledge: Eric Friedman, Ed Schuttenberg, Rick Guth, Kelly Sullivan, Peter Newton, Matt Hirsch and Bonnie Devine. The contract was executed and we began plans for the upgrade to “CDX” in ’08.

At this time, MAR was proceeding with its endeavor to develop a Statewide CIE.  CIE offered to “assist” them with this project while declining to manage this system; with the changeover to CDX scheduled for early 2008, we did not feel that we had the time to focus on starting up a Statewide System.
I find it difficult to point to one highlight of my year as Chairman.  There were ongoing meetings, contract negotiations, a trip to Xcelligent’s main office and a trip to Washington D.C.  All in all it was a tremendous opportunity for me to see firsthand what a Herculean task it is to organize and run on a day to day basis a system such as ours…and now its contract negotiation time again.

CIE 2011 Election results

Per CIE Bylaws: Section 8.4-e: “If the number of candidates filed is equal to or less than the vacant positions to be filled, the Board of Directors may declare the candidates elected and no ballot will be mailed or sent transmitted electronically.”

Let the CDX email you when new listings are added to the database

Follow the steps below to automatically be notified daily or weekly whenever a new listing has been added to the database that meets your search parameters:

1. Click the "Property Search" icon located on your CDX home page
2. Input your search criteria in Steps 1-5
3. When complete, click "Save As" in the top right corner
4. When the "Saved Search Criteria Options" popup window opens, enter a name for your saved search and an optional description of your search
5. Check "email me when new items are added that match this search"
6. Check "Include pictures in email" and "Send email even when there are no new items" if desired
7. Under Email Format, keep the default HTML
8. Under Email Frequency, select whether you want to receive an update Weekly or Daily
9. Leave the Stop Emails On field blank
10. Click the blue "Save" button at the top of the popup window

Did you know that CIE offers FREE hands-on training?

Classes are held from 9:00 am - 11:30 am, at the CIE office. Registration is required as we are limited to the number of computers available. Three dynamic classes are available:

Basic: Searching Techniques, Selecting and Using the Various Reports, CDX Mail. Emphasis on Searching.

Advanced: Searching Techniques, Selecting and Using the Various Reports, Setting up User Preferences, CDX Mail. Emphasis on Agent/Client Tools.

Administrators: Searching Techniques, How to Add, Edit and Maintain Company Listings. Selecting and Using the Various Reports, CDX Mail, Email Listings, Uploading Photos and Flyers.
