This month, we recognize Ed Schuttenberg, Research Manager of CB Richard Ellis. Ed is recognized as one of the St. Louis commercial real estate industry’s leaders in market research, investment services, financial consulting and business technology. During his career with the company, he has successfully facilitated many of the area’s most prominent corporate relocations, acquisitions, dispositions, build-to-suit developments and investment property sales. He supports clients with investment analysis, cost-benefit studies, feasibility analysis, due diligence review, negotiation, marketing, market research and evaluation of proposals.

Ed was instrumental in the creation of our Commercial Information Exchange. With his commitment to ensure that the system succeeded, the St. Louis Commercial Information Exchange has become a nationally recognized model for sharing commercial property listing information.

Ed explained to me that his year as CIE Chairman was a busy one. "CIE was moving from our 2nd generation system to the 3rd. Bonnie Devine and I had attended a RealComm trade show where we were meeting with vendors. At the time, there were only a couple of CIE Vendors out there; some were well known and some were not.

After 18 months of testing and negotiations with the different vendors, Commercial Search of Denver Colorado was selected as our Vendor. Commercial Search was a smaller vendor and not as well known. In fact, when Bonnie and I had first met with them, it was not in the RealComm convention hall or any fancy suite, it was in a hallway outside of the convention hall. We sat on the floor and look at the presentation on a laptop computer.

However, they were willing to work with us to create a system that would work the way the St. Louis Brokers needed it to. We thought their offering was well thought out and they were the first vendor to integrate the broadcast email option with the database. The successful conversion and the launch of the new system was a huge success and our membership grew because of it.

I'm tempted to say that I would never want to work on a system conversion again. But, upon further reflection, I'd have to say, working with other members of the team made the process a real joy. I can't begin to express my appreciation for the effort and energy that everyone put forward, especially Bonnie Devine and all of the stalwarts of the Technology Committee: Eric Friedman, Kelly Sullivan, Rick Guth, Dan Johnson, Gerry Prinster and Peter Newton."

Tech Tip 1- CDX mail plus - Subject line auto fills for you

When composing your CDXMail subject line, the beginning of the subject line will automatically fill in for you based on your selections you have made in Step 2.  

Compose Email

Subject
CDXMail: Retail, Sale, Saint Louis, MO

In the example above, in Step 1, we have selected " Broadcast My Listing". In Step 2 we have chosen a listing that is a Retail Property, For Sale in St. Louis, MO.(Pre-filled data is underlined above. You can find this information displayed under the Subject Line Box when filling out your email.)

Whatever you type into the subject line will immediately follow the underlined information.  All you need to include when sending out a "Broadcast My Listing" email is the size of the property in square footage or acres as applicable.

Remember:
When composing your subject line for a “Broadcast My Listing", you must include the available space's size; square footage or acres. 

When composing your subject line for a “Client Requirement”  you must include the required fields; location, space size or price/price range.

In following the steps above, your subject line would read as follows:

Subject:
CDXMail: Retail, Sale, Saint Louis, MO 33,000 SF

Tech Tip 2- Printing/Sending out specific suite information

Need to send out information on one Suite and not wanting to include all suites on the building?

Complete your property search by selecting the property type and the listing type of "For Lease". Fill out additional search criteria if applicable.

When you search results display, you will see how many records and suites are available. Right below the quantity available, you will see a tab for "Records" and a tab for "Suites". Click on the "Suite" tab and select the suite you are interested in. Now you will be able to print out that specific suite information without other information showing on your reports.

Did you know that CIE offers FREE hands-on training?

Classes are held from 9:00 am - 11:30 am, at the CIE office. Registration is required as we are limited to the number of computers available. Three dynamic classes are available:

Basic: Searching Techniques, Selecting and Using the Various Reports, CDX Mail. Emphasis on Searching.

Advanced: Searching Techniques, Selecting and Using the Various Reports, Setting up User Preferences, CDX Mail. Emphasis on Agent/Client Tools.

Administrators: Searching Techniques, How to Add, Edit and Maintain Company Listings. Selecting and Using the Various Reports, CDX Mail, Email Listings, Uploading Photos and Flyers.
